An Invitation to Participate from the Conference Chairmen

This meeting is the fourth one in the series of international Conferences devoted to all aspects of an Integrated Approach to the design and operation of buildings. It is also an attempt to document the most recent advancements in the areas of IAQ, Ventilation and Energy Conservation in Buildings; and to serve as a forum for discussion among participants from around the world.

This Conference should be of particular interest to scientists, government officials, engineers, architects, industrial hygienists, building owners, building consultants and facilities managers.

The Conference will be held in Yuelu Academy. Yuelu Academy is the predecessor of Hunan University and was established in 976AD. It is the most famous ancient academy and the only one that has continued its education till today in China. Some sessions will be held in Broad Air-conditioning Co. Ltd.. Broad is the biggest Direct-fired Absorbing Chiller-heater manufacturer in China.

Topics for Sessions and Workshops

The topics will be organized into Sessions and Workshops according to the number and scope of the papers that address each topic. Authors are asked to select from the list the topics that best reflect the contents of their papers. Appropriate selection of topics will facilitate a quick review of the abstracts and a correct organization of the Sessions.

The topics listed below are indicative but are by no means restrictive:

  4. Daylighting and energy efficient artificial lighting
  5. Energy related environmental impact of buildings
  6. Integral building envelope performance assessment

  9. Smart building and computer network application
  10. Codes and guidelines for indoor environment and energy conservation
  11. Educational and training issues
  12. Life cycle cost analysis
  13. Design, testing and commissioning, operation and maintenance of environmental and energy plants in building

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts (between 200 and 300 words) are required at once for review and selection (preferably by email). They should be written in English and contain the names of all authors and their affiliations, together with the mailing address, email address and telephone/fax numbers of the principal author. The abstract should include a brief introduction, an outline of the objectives and methodology, the key results and conclusions.

All papers accepted, subject to the completion of the registration process, will be published in the Conference proceedings.


English is the working language of the Conference.

Early registration is advisable to take advantage of the reduced rates.

Accompanying Persons US$100 US$100

The registration fee for participants (including students) covers the Proceedings, official events, coffee breaks, exhibition, lunches, dinner, banquet, entertainment programs, arranged technical visit and sightseeing visit. The registration fee for accompanying persons includes all the above items except for the proceedings and technical sessions. The accompanying persons will pay extra fees if they want to participate in special social events arranged for them.

Social Programme

The social program will include the opening ceremony with a welcome party, a conference banquet and a closing ceremony. Visits to some of the highlights of Changsha and its vicinity will be arranged.
